I’m giving high marks to Dreams Corfu Resort & Spa, specifically to Vicky Lintovoy and her team at Guest Experiences! We arrived after 11PM on Sunday evening, tired and hungry. If you read yesterday’s entry, you know the issue we had with our Sky Express flight. Our nerves were already shot. Upon arrival at Dreams, we were greeted warmly and given welcome Prosecco. They were still serving a light snack in their main restaurant, so we got a quick bite, but were ready to crash. Again, we zipped around but this time on a resort golf cart and taken to our bungalow. Welp….there was a lovely combo of tiredness, stress, lingering hunger and overall menopausal rage bubbling when the first impression of our room was….not.so.great. The perfect storm for my inner Karen to emerge. (Sorry, Mom, not you.) I voiced my concerns to reception and sent a message to property management.
The next morning, Vicky met me in the lobby. Long story short, we are in a beautiful bungalow and were made to feel valued as guests. Bravo, Hyatt Inclusive, for the guest experience these guests received at Dreams Corfu. Vicky and her team went above and beyond and more!
We spent the day exploring the resort, relaxing at the beach (directly behind our bungalow) and swimming in the wonderful heated Preferred Club pool. Here is a TA tip for anyone wanting to book an all inclusive resort: always, ALWAYS, book the “preferred club” (each partner property has its own moniker for this level). Yes, it’s more expensive but on a total package price, it doesn’t add that much. In return, your benefits are massive. Private pools, private dining, premium liquor at bars, etc. In short, you are made to truly feel like VIPs. (That’s my TA tip for the day.)
But here’s the BIG thing about today….I DROVE IN GREECE!
Thanks to Billy and Sluta Leta Car Rentals in Gouvia, I have the use of a slick, compact Kia Picanto complete with automatic transmission, Apple CarPlay, rear backup camera and, most importantly, air conditioning! Yay!
Our maiden voyage was driving from the resort in Gouvia to Old Corfu Town, about 20 min away. Did we miss a turn? Maybe. Did I end up driving on a few backroads reminiscent of Pisgah Pike? Yep. Did we survive? 100%!
