The English Reformation – A Family Affair

Anne Boleyn was the reason behind the English Reformation. This one woman drove King Henry VIII to break with the Catholic church in Rome. She was persistent, calculating, and determined.”

When I was about 9 years old, I found a book of genealogy at my great-grandmother’s house. “Some Pucketts and Their Kin” was researched and compiled by a friend of the family, Hester Garrett. Copies of the published book were given to my dad, his brothers and my grandparents. There was one page in particular that always caught my attention. I read it so much and so often that I could repeat some lines verbatim.

As a kid, this was like discovering the Holy Grail. I always wondered why on Earth didn’t the rest of family talk about this? I mean…the Magna Carta, Anne Boleyn, Elizabeth I? These are cornerstones of English history!
